Lead Drummer, Ian Aastrom
Ian got his drumming start as an Army Cadet in the mid-1990s, and played with several Grade 3 and 4 bands during his formative years. His drumming experience includes time playing in corps with Winnipeg Celtic, The Grade 2 Maple Ridge Pipe Band and with the Grade 2 City of Regina, where he spent three years of his tenure there as leading drummer.
He is also currently a teaching member of the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada in Winnipeg. In that role, he’s played an important role in developing drummers in Manitoba during the pandemic.
He’s an accredited adjudicator with the Prairie Pipe Band Association of Manitoba and is also the Vice-President of the same association.
Ian is excited and enthusiastic about joining the band and building back the corps.
In his spare time, Ian is a avid sports lover, and most importantly, a big fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders football club.
