Tim Borton has long been involved in the pipe band drumming scene, and comes to Rocky Mountain with a wealth of Grade 1 drumming experience. Having most recently played with the Triumph Street Pipe Band, he also spent several seasons with Alberta Caledonia and the 78th Highlanders (Halifax Citadel). Tim was also the LD of the Grade 2 City of Regina Pipe Band in the early 2000s.
Tim has most recently worked as a professional percussionist with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and has been described as one of the most “in-demand musicians in Canada”. He has performed with the Edmonton Symphony, Toronto Symphony, Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, National Ballet of Canada, Vancouver Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia, Thunder Bay Symphony, and two seasons as acting Principal Percussionist with the Auckland Philharmonic in New Zealand. He currently works in Calgary with the Federal Government.
Tim is excited to be back at the helm with the Rocky Mountain Pipe Band and is looking forward to an exciting future working with Sean and the rest of the band.
In his spare time, Tim is an avid home brewer, and cigar aficionado.
